Yes, I’ve been lazy. We’ve been on our vacation (within a vacation). Back in La Paz (September), we decided that the Cancun area would be a good meeting location for the holidays. My family is awesomely up-for-anything when it comes to travel and fiercely devoted to each other, so my two brothers and their beautiful wives and my intrepid parents all came to meet me and Juan and Milo.

I’m not quite sure how we settled on Akumal, but it seemed close enough to things without being in Disneyworld and we were able to find a reasonably priced rental that is dog-friendly. Akumal is about 90 minutes south of Cancun, half an hour south of Playa del Carmen, and half an hour north of Tulum.

It was great to spend the holidays with my expanding family. I love them all so much!

Our layover in Seoul. It was freezing.

I took NO PHOTOS at all in January of 2012. We had just gotten back from Vietnam. Here’s one of the last photos of 2011.
